From January, the Kobler platform supports political advertising in line with the current EU regulation on political advertising, effective from October 2025.
Political advertising in this context entails transparency regarding who uses the Kobler platform for political advertising, clear labelling of ads, and traceability throughout the value chain. Targeting is carried out without the use of personal data, without cookies, and without consent, based exclusively on editorial content and context.
For political campaigns, this means that:
Ads are clearly labelled as political
Core information about the advertiser and the campaign is made available
Ads can be reported if they are believed to breach applicable regulations
Campaign information is stored and accessible for a minimum of seven years
Relevant information is shared with cooperating publishers for oversight and transparency
Campaign data is made available through a shared European repository for political advertising once this is established
This form of advertising is based on the same technical and commercial model that the Kobler platform otherwise uses. What is new for political advertising is the requirement for transparency information and clear labelling, not the advertising workflow itself.
For publishers and advertisers, this means that political advertising can be carried out without the use of personal data, without cookies, and without consent, in the same way as other Kobler advertising on editorial surfaces.
